This professional suture training model includes a layer of simulated skin, a layer of simulated fat and a layer of material to represent muscle mass. The bottom side reflects a simulated skin fascia layer only, no epidermis. Size: 4" x 4" Weight: Approx. 1 lb.

Note: For use with Ethicon, Medtronic or equivalent Surgical Suture Stapler and Remover. Staple Types: Stainless steel, titanium and composite plastic. Wire Diameter from .51 to .53mm, Depth 3.5 to 3.9mm.

Also available: 12' x 12" model, LFA # 8007.

A note of explanation: The images reflect an unsutured and a sutured simulation model with representative skin suture and skin staple wound closures. The actual model, of course, comes to you without the suture/wound closure and prior to any cutting, etc. The model will accept any reasonable surgical wound shape. Some instructors create a small wound, insert a small marble, "paintball", or similar object, and allow students to practice draining as an "abscess" wound, etc. This trainer is a silicone composite construct meant to simulate living tissue. You should handle this trainer with the same level of care you would a cadaveric specimen. This trainer is a silicone composite construct meant to simulate living tissue. This TruSkin model does not require any special preparation or disposal. It has an indefinite shelf life and should be stored in a cool, dry space. You may experience a slight amount of "sweating" of non-toxic silicone oil. This is normal for new (freshly cast) inserts and will subside as the insert ages. Wipe down with a clear soft rag to clean with a mixture of liquid dish soap and water, towel dry and coat with baby powder for easier handling. Curved Plastic Holder with 4 Stabilizing Pins for Skin Suture Training Model is recommended and available as LFA #8006A for proper positioning for suture demonstration techniques.
